My Pets
Like any good writer, I have a cat. Only, I actually have more than one cat. I have two cats, several honorary cats that belong to friends/relatives, and a snake.
This new page of my site is dedicated to my extended family of adorable animals. Enjoy.

atticus finchThis little guy was dropped off at my parents' house by a friend who was planning to move and couldn't keep him.
I named him after one of my favorite literary characters, and he has been my buddy ever since. He loves playing, yarn, and getting into places he's not allowed to be. He knows he can get away with a lot because he's cute, and he almost always sleeps on the lap of a human. |

malcom reynoldsWe took in a pregnant stray (whose featured a little ways below) so I've had Mal literally since the day he was born. It was my job to watch over the kittens, and this guy woke me up every single night after wandering away from the others - he'd yell until I went and got him.
Ever since then he's been my cat , and now that he's fully grown he'll still wander off at night and yell until I come find him -sometimes several times before he'll settle down on me. |
washburneWash is Mal's older brother. He was the only kitten to survive out of Mama Kitty's first litter, and we took him in to make sure he was taken care of.
He was the sweetest kitten, and instantly became the family cat because he got along with everyone so well. To this day he still purrs the second that anyone touches him. |

kayleeKaylee is Mal's sister, she was born in the same litter. She now chooses to live outside with her mom (though we rather suspect she spends winters inside our neighbor's house.)
Even though she doesn't really belong to anyone in the house, my whole family still loves her dearly, and if we're really lucky we get to pet her sometimes. |
J. IrvingJ is my dad's cat, named after one of his favorite authors. He was the third kitten born into the litter with Mal and Kaylee.
He spends a lot of his time sitting in windows looking grumpy, but can be pretty sweet - especially to anyone in the kitchen. |

mama kittyMama kitty was a feral cat when we adopted her first kitten, Wash. We were finally able to wrangle her during her second pregnancy, where she gave us Mal, J, and Kaylee.
She got out of the house not long after that, and gave birth to a final litter of three more kittens who all went to the same, loving home. After that we were finally able to get her into the vet to get her fixed. She's still not an inside cat, but we see her around the yard, and after all the wonderful kittens she gave us, we still consider her part of the family. |
philip j. frySomeone dropped Fry off at our house when he was just a kitten, thinking that he must be one of ours because he's orange and white. We couldn't find his original owners, and think he might have been a stray.
I named him after my one of my favorite Futurama characters, planning to adopt him, but he made it pretty clear that he wanted to stay with my dad. He's an incredibly loyal cat who sleeps in odd, anatomy-defying positions and will not turn down a single bit of human food. His favorite treat is potatoes. |

syrio forelWe found Syrio when he was a kitten, yelling in our yard.
We named him after the first sword to the sealord of Braavos, and he is just about as pointy as a needle. He shows his affection by biting, and prefers to sit next to humans rather than on them. He's the hardest one to get a picture of because he has the ability to fade into the shadows, and his fur is the darkest black I have ever seen on a cat. |
zaphodWe went and picked Zaphod out when he was a kitten, several years before getting any of the other current cats. It was just him and his sister, but she sadly passed away.
He eventually decided he wanted to be an outside cat, and I don't get to see him very often as a result. On very rare occasions I can sit in the swing in my parents' backyard and he'll come sit with me while I read. |

chronosChronos, as you may have noticed, is not a cat, but a snake.
My boyfriend and I had some difficulty in getting a pet together because he is allergic to cats and I'm allergic to dogs. Neither of us are allergic to snakes, however, and so we got this little cutie. We get along really well together because we're both lazy and we both like warm environments. Plus, look how adorable he is. |
